Elaborating Complex Methodologies Regarding the Attribution and Authentication of Medieval and Early Modern Paintings Belonging to the National Cultural Heritage
Activities
The Objective of the Project:
• The elaboration of a complex, multi-criteria methodology for the authentication and attribution of medieval and premodern paintings belonging to the national cultural heritage to be implemented in a decision support system platform - IDArt.
Estimated results
• The comprehensive artistic and stylistic analysis of a representative repertoire of artworks (consisting of eight different groups) in order to develop the authentication and attribution protocols used in the IDArt platform.
• The physical-chemical analysis of two groups of works (out of the eight) in order to establish a set of metadata containing several characteristics specific to the painting materials used by each artist.
• Elaborating several image processing algorithms that will constitute the basis of the application used by the IDArt platform.
Putting forth a decision support system platform used for the authentication of artworks.
• The complex project will achieve its aim by implementing three RDI projects.
