Consortium
The Consortium implementing the project consists of the George Oprescu Institute for Art History (IIAGO) as coordinator and the following partners: The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN), Babes-Bolyai University (UBB), The National Research and Development Institute for Isotopic and Molecular Technologies (INCDTIM) and the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Romanian Academy – specifically the Institute for Archeology and Art History (IAIA). The complex project aims at revitalizing IIAGO and IAIA by supporting and developing relevant research projects, as well as increasing their capacity of further transferring the results and creating an innovative service in the field of cultural heritage investigation. This will allow the diversification of the research opportunities and expertise offered to the socio-economic and academic environment by the two well established public research organizations. Interdisciplinarity is meant to be a key element in the consortium and thus the artwork expertise conducted by IIAGO and IAIA will be completed by the (non-invasive) know-how put forth by UBB, while UTCN will handle Mathematical Modeling and Image Processing and INCDTIM will perform the physical-chemical examination, so that a multi-criteria method for the analysis of artworks is developed. The consortium will continue its activities after the project’s end date in order to improve the common product and to foster common institutional development. The Consortium's Board of Directors also co-opted (as consultants) other institutions (RDI, NGOs, private firms) active in the field of studying and protecting cultural heritage.
